Platinum downhillers take over Big Bear podium

Team Platinum Cycling’s pair of Steve Silva and Bobby Langin agreed to start at a moderate pace, working together to disintegrate the pack slowly up the initial climb.  However, they didn’t like the look of one of their counterparts and lit the fuse early and hit it right out of the gate.  At about a quarter mile in, Steve’s heart decided it was time to go over 250 bpm (not good for a man his age) relegating him to the small ring in an attempt to recover from the dreaded arrhythmia.

Due to the work Steve and Bobby put in early, the group was indeed broken up allowing the elder Langin to get an early lead.  Meanwhile Steve trying to get his hear rate under control but letting the field get a head start in the process.  As strong as he is, and largely due to his training regiment the week before at Girl Scout camp (which sounded a lot like drinking copious amounts of beer), this should have been no problem.  It was not.

Steve recovered from hyper-beat and started reeling in the anxious competitors like the gifted athlete he is. Using his strength and advanced downhill skills, he swooped by the majority of the field to finish a strong 5th place behind Bobby Sr., Steve Hensler, and Dean Swank making for a podium with plenty of Platinum Performance cyclists.
