Breakers clinch first place by beating Surf

Speedy guard Mark Peters scored 30 points on Sunday as the Santa Barbara Breakers clinched first place in the West Coast Basketball League with a 127-108 victory over the Newport Beach Surf at the Thunderhut.

Santa Barbara (11-3) is the top seed in next weekend’s playoffs after taking the season series against the Surf 2-1.

Mark Dawson chipped in 21 points for the Breakers while Leonard Mosely added 19.

The Breakers have a first round bye before opening the playoffs at 7 p.m. Saturday in search of their second straight WCBL title.
