SBCC women stopped shy of quarters

A trio of SBCC women’s tennis players fell one round shy of reaching the Southern Cal Regional on Saturday in the WSC Championships at Ventura College. Meghan Schaefer fell to No. 2 seed Chloe Redman 6-1, 6-1 of Cuesta in the Round of 16 while Laura Dixon-Alex Cox lost to second-seeded Redman-Whiting 6-1, 6-2.

The top eight finishers from the WSC tournament in singles and doubles advanced to the regional, which will take place April 30-May 2 at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo.

Schaefer and Carla Dauden will represent the Vaqueros in the prestigious Ojai Invitational on April 23-26. Schaefer-Dauden will also compete in doubles, along with Dixon-Cox.
