Bud Donatoni and Bobby Langin Sr. both rode to first-place finishes at the Monterey Sea Otter Classic, contributing to the Platinum Performance cycling teams overall success in the four-day event.
Despite the blistering weather conditions, the event drew in over 100,000 spectators. However, Sunday’s temperatures hit over 95 degrees, causing the race organizers to shorten the Pro race.
Donatoni collected his win in the Cat 4 Road race while Langin won a three-man sprint in order to take the Cat 4 Circuit Race. Donatoni also finished third in the Cat 1 45-49 XC course.
Team Platinum performed impressively in the Cat 1 XC race, with Steve Silva finishing third in the 50-54 class, Bud Donatoni collecting fourth in the 45-49 class, and Ryan Booth placing fifth in the 35-39 class.
Mark Luke rode to a podium finish for the first time in his career after placing fourth in the Cat 4 Road Race, while Bobby Langin Sr. won a three-man sprint in order to take the Cat 4 Circuit Race.
Byron Beck finished ninth in the 50-54 class, and “Little” Reny Takeda collected a seventh place finish in the Cat 3 under 12 class.
