Pacific uses all the power, UCSB suffers outage

Pacific hit three home runs in the first two innings and then cruised to a 13-3 win over UC Santa Barbara at Caesar Uyesaka Stadium on Sunday.

Gaucho starter Mike Ford lasted just 1.1 innings, allowing five earned runs on four hits while walking two. He falls to 3-3 on the season. Pacific’?s Nick Longmire led off the game with a home run, part of his two-homer, 4-for-5 afternoon in which he tallied five RBI. Every Pacific hitter tallied at least one hit while J.B. Brown went 3-for-4 with four RBI.

The Gauchos’ offense managed just one hit against Pacific?s Hunter Carnevale (2-3), who allowed two runs on the lone hit through seven innings. Carnevale walked five batters and struck out four. Jesse Meaux relieved Ford and pitched 4.2 solid innings, striking out three.

UCSB had five total hits as Gunnar Terhune, Brian Gump, John DeAlba, Doug Hansen and Bryce Tafelski recorded hits. DeAlba, Terhune and Marty Mullins each had an RBI.
