Castagnola a one-woman wrecking crew for DP

Andria Castagnola played the role of punisher for the Dos Pueblos softball team on Thursday, knocking in four runs and scoring the other in a 5-3 Charger victory over visiting Rio Mesa.

Castagnola just missed a grand slam in the fourth inning when her long fly ball bounced off the outfield wall, ending up being a triple that cleared the bases. She made up for it in the sixth inning, clearing the fence for a solo home run and her second run scored.

Marisa Radeke scored another two runs on two hits as the Chargers improved to 10-13 in their final non-league game. DP still has San Marcos, Ventura and two with Santa Barbara left on the schedule.

“It was a great win against a great opponent,” said Chargers head coach Donn Roberts, whose team finished up play in the Pacific View Tournament with a record of 2-2.

Rio Mesa, leaders of the Pacific View League, are now 14-7.

Starting pitcher Shelli Sibbert picked up the win and Hannah Harris came on to collect the final four outs for the save.
