Warriors spread it around in 6-1 victory over Saints

A strong start by pitcher Kyle Geary and a well-rounded effort at the plate led the Carpinteria baseball team to its second win of the week over Santa Clara, 6-1, on Friday.

The Warriors collected 10 hits via nine different batters, and Geary pitched five scoreless innings, allowing just one hit with seven strikeouts and two walks. Diego Carrillo hit a one-out double in the second and then scored on a base-knock by Jeremy Stein to score what ended up being the winning run.

“I was pleased with the steady approach at the plate and happy with our effort on the mound,” said coach Pat Cooney. “The team seems to be working on developing its personality still.  We are making a point of trying all of the plays with as many different players as we can.”

The Warriors (3-3) host Cabrillo on Tuesday.
