Vail, Bisquera shine, Buena too deep for Dons

R.J. Bisquera won the 100- and 200-meter races while Rebecca Vail won the 100 with a second-place in the long jump and third in the triple jump, but the Dons didn’t have the manpower to defeat Buena in Thursday’s track meet.

The Bulldogs took the boys side of the meet 94-32, while the Buena girls won 81-46.

“There were a lot of good marks and our relay teams really came together, but we’re just not deep enough to pick up those other places,” said coach Olivia Perdices.

Bisquera and Freddy Maldonado were also on the winning 4×100 and 4×400 relays, and Maldonado won the 400 individual race. Christina Miller won the girls discus and took third in the shot put, and Tyler Parent won the boys discus. Briggs Deardorff ran the mile in 4:41 for the win.

The Dons are down in Camarillo this weekend, then have a Channel League bye before next Saturday’s Easter Relays.
