Royals romp all over Oak Park, 11-1

The San Marcos baseball team started its day with five straight hits and didn’t cool down, scoring in every inning but one of an 11-1 non-league win over Oak Park at San Marcos.

Ten different Royal batters recorded hits for 17 total.

In the first, Victor Acevedo knocked in the first run before Andy McCumber’s two-run basehit 

Nick Stahopolous also had a hit in the first and went on to go 4-for-4 on the day, including 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored.

Sophomore catcher Riley Moore rocked his first home run of the season, a three-run shot that was the big blow in a Royals four-run third inning that made the score 7-0. 

Pat Cavalier pitched five strong innings for his second win of the season.

San Marcos head coach Rob Crawford singled out shortstop Acevedo, who went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, as playing great defense: “He’s playing like a rock.”

San Marcos (3-3) gets its Channel League start on Fridayu at home.
