Owls fall to Rio Mesa in four games

Julian Harake put away 12 kills and Max Johnston added 10 with three blocks on Thursday, but the Laguna Blanca boys volleyball team couldn’t slow down visiting Rio Mesa in a 25-23, 25-23, 20-25, 9-25 defeat.

“It was a pretty good prep volleyball match. They just had a little better control than us in transition,” said first-year Laguna coach Bobby Sanchez. “This was the best Rio Mesa team I’ve seen since the early 90s.”

Sanchez also praised libero Dawson Ingersoll for a steady job in the back row.

The Owls (0-2) host Fillmore next.
