Gaudefroy sweeps, Royals dominate doubles

Sean-Michael Gaudefroy picked up his first sweep at the No. 1 singles spot in San Marcos’ 17-1 domination of Buena on Tuesday.

The doubles team of Stephen Amspoker and Jackson Foster also swept, winning 6-2, 6-1, 6-0.

“Travis has really begun to assert himself as an all-court player, hitting penetrating groundstrokes and also coming to net and finishing easy points,” said coach Jarrod Bradley.

Parker Funk and Nick Kilpelainen also had a dominant doubles day, winning their three sets 6-3, 6-1, 6-0.

“We’ve come close to sweeping all of the doubles points a couple times this year and today it happened,” said Bradley. “We’ve been working on closing off the net for easier points and they guys have really begun to show this in their play.”

The Royals (3-3, 1-0)  host Arroyo Grande on Thursday. Buena is now 1-3, 0-1.
