Everybody in on this Royal win

A six-run seventh catapulted the San Marcos baseball team to an 8-3 non-league victory at Nordhoff on Saturday, taking the Royals to their fourth-straight win.

Head coach Rob Crawford used the game as a warmup for the team’s spring break trip to Arizona and used 20 players. The traveling team, made up mostly of juniors and seniors, will be playing a round-robin tournament and will also attend a Dodgers-Diamondback spring training game and a USC-Arizona game while there.

On Saturday, Landon Boneck led off the seventh with a triple and scored on a Scott Behlman single to get things going. Nick Stathopoulos followed with a pinch-hit double to score Behlman and soon crossed the plate himself on an Andy McCumber single. Pat Cavalier, Brandon Atelian and Sam Marshall all followed suit with RBI hits.

Mac Gostow allowed one run in four innings of work to pick up his second win of the season while the Royals improve to  7-5 on the season.
