DP gets new girls tennis, volleyball coaches

Dos Pueblos Athletic Director Dan Feldhaus announced Tuesday that Todd Garrett will be the Chargers’ new girls volleyball coach and Suzy Dahl will take the helm for the girls tennis team.

Garrett, a Westmont graduate and Health Science and Sports Medicine instructor at DP, has been coaching in the girls and boys programs for seven years, including stints as head coach at the frosh/soph and JV levels. He was an assitant for the girls varsity team this past season, and coaches 15-year-olds at the Santa Barbara Volleyball Club.

He is replacing Dwayne Hauschild, who was let go last month. The staff of assistant coaches, including Greg Novak, Tina Brown and John Sener, will remain with the program.

Dahl will take over the reins for the DP girls tennis team from Liz Frech, who will remain the coach of the boys team.

“We wanted to focus Liz’s efforts on the boys team. She’s doing a great job with them,” said Feldhaus.

Dahl has been involved with the DP tennis program for five years, mostly as a volunteer. She is an active member of the local tennis community, participating in USTA Leagues and club tennis activities.

“She brings a great deal of tennis knowledge and enthusiasm to the DP program and looks forward to continuing DP’s tradition of competing at a very high level in the Channel League and within the Santa Barbara area,” wrote Feldhaus in a press release.
