Chargers beat Braves for seventh place

Freshman Hannah Harris turned in a five-strikeout, complete game victory for the Dos Pueblos girls softball team on Saturday against Lompoc, leading the Chargers to a seventh-place finish at the Susan Manlet Tournament with a 9-6 win.

In the day’s first game, DP was shut down by Westlake 6-0.

“We didn’t bring our A-game and they did,” said Chargers head coach Donn Roberts, still pleased with his team’s showing considering the top-flight field.

Andria Castagnola still drew praise from her coach because of a strong six innings on the mound and added a single at the plate.

Against Lompoc, Dos Pueblos sunk into a 2-6 deficit after the Braves posted two straight 3-run innings in the fourth and fifth. The Chargers answered back with a 6-run bottom half of the fifth.
