Up 8-7 with three doubles sets to go, the Bishop Diego boys tennis team won only four games on the rest of the day, suffering a 10-8 Frontier League loss at Villanova on Thursday.
Jordan Ekola and Matthew Grimes each went 2-1 in singles for the Cardinals (3-4, 2-1) and the doubles team of Art Gonzalez and R.J. Escamilla also went 2-1.
“We’re disappointed, but we’re ready for the next one,” said Ekola.
Since there are only four teams in the league, the Cardinals will have two more shots at the Wildcats, who are also 2-1 in the conference.
