Cano, Silverstein help Chargers survive Westlake

The Dos Pueblos boys tennis team returned the favor to visiting Westlake on Wednesday, making up for a close defeat last year by topping the Warriors by a hair after the match ended deadlocked at 9-to-9.

The Chargers were declared winners after the total games were added up, showing DP’s 78 to Westlake’s 77. With the victory, Dos Pueblos improves to 2-1 on the season.

Austin Cano and Andy Silverstein were the heros, going 3-0 on the day and winning the final set of the day to give Dos Pueblos its much-needed ninth game.

No. 1 singles player Sasha Gryaznov also swept his sets to lead Dos Pueblos. Richard Cheng produced a gutsy win in his first match, overcoming a bout of leg cramps with the set score tied 5-all to ultimately win 7-5.
