Jade Fitzgerald boosted the San Marcos girls water polo team to an 11-8 victory over Cerritos on Friday at the Bonita Tournament, scoring five goals in the third-round game.
Flo Chardon added a pair of scores and Brittny Hummel, Rose Koper and Parinda Sukavivatanachai pitched in one apiece.
While the Royals were in control for most of the game, Koper came up with an important score after a Chardon steal that answered a mini-run from Cerritos in the third quarter.
Keeper Autumn Lovett recorded 10 saves protecting the Royals’ cage, helping San Marcos improve to 11-10 on the year.
San Marcos has two games to go on Saturday in the pool-play tournament.
