Santa Barbara stopped cold by Knights

The previously 8-1 Dons were humbled by St. Joseph on Saturday, taking a 69-40 defeat to the Knights in a Green Division game at the Tournament of Champions.

“Defensively we weren’t able to contain them and we were not able to execute on offense,” said head coach Andrew Butcher, who said it wasn’t for a lack of effort from the Dons.

Brandi Blackwell had team-highs in points and rebounds, collecting 11 and seven, respectively. Geena Boscacci reached double-figures with 10 for Santa Barbara (8-2).

Brianna Bognuda led the Knights with 14 points, leading four teammates in double figures. Ane McPike tossed in 12 points as did Heather Madrigal. Aly Beebe dropped 10.

Santa Barbara next takes on crosstown rival Dos Pueblos on Monday.
