With 10 seniors gone from last year’s CIF playoff team, San Marcos’ girls soccer team held Thousand Oaks to a 0-0 halftime tie before the Lancers turned up the heat in the second half, winning the scrimmage 5-0.
“Our defense played really well in the first half,” said coach Christy Lozano, who also liked what she saw from junior forwards Ali Raack and Jenny-Ann Martinez.
The Royals travel to Oxnard on Tuesday to face Pacifica in their regular-season opener. The home opener is Thursday at 5 p.m. against Agoura Hills.
