Ramirez, Lavender come through in Dons’ win

Jessica Ramirez scored all 14 of her points in the first quarter as the Santa Barbara girls basketball team improved to 13-2 with a 60-27 win over Pioneer Valley at the Righetti Tournament Saturday.

Larissa Lavender had a stellar all-around game, scoring seven points with 10 rebounds, four assists and four steals on the night.

Ramirez recently joined the team after transferring in the offseason, and is off to a great start. Coach Andrew Butcher said that her 14 points came in a stretch of about four minutes.“She’s doing great things academically and is really working hard for us,” he said.

The Dons are also doing a good job of finding the players with the hot-hand, according to Butcher.

Santa Barbara plays Monday at 3 p.m. against Paso Robles.
