Physical Righetti side holds off Chargers

The Dos Pueblos boys soccer team adjusted well to a physical Righetti side, but Eduardo Cortez’s second-half goal wasn’t enough in a 2-1 loss to the Warriors.

Righetti (8-1) scored twice in the first half, the second a highlight-reel volley off a centering cross.

Cortez chased down a nice through-ball past Righetti’s backline and poked it past the keeper to bring the Chargers (3-5-1)  within one.

DP coach Tovi Eliasen said Rodrigo Perez put together a well-played game, creating scoring opportunities and that he was unlucky not to break through.

The Chargers play again on Friday and Saturday at the Cabrillo Tournament in Lompoc.
