Morro Bay clips Royals in Green Division

The San Marcos girls basketball team recovered from a slow start on Saturday but by that time, the damage had already been done.

Morro Bay recorded a 49-40 victory of the Royals in a Green Divsion game at the Tournament of Champions played in the Thunderhut.

Claudia Ochoa led the Royals – who outscored the Pirates in the second half – with 17 points.

San Marcos head coach Kristyn Miller blamed Morro Bay’s matchup zone – the first the Royals have seen this year – for stifling her team’s production. Knight was happy with the second half after the Royals made adjustments and outscored the Pirates 22-16.

San Marcos has Santa Ynez on Monday at 10:45 a.m. in their final game of the TOC.
