Gauchos don’t get it done on road

Chris Devine’s 18 points weren’t even good enough to keep the UCSB men’s basketball team in the game, as the Gauchos absorbed a 68-51 defeat at San Diego State on Saturday afternoon.

Lorenzo Wade led the Spartans with 17 points and became the 23rd player in school history to hit the milestone.

The Gauchos are now 5-6 on the season with a Dec. 29 matchup with Ball State being their last before Big West Conference play begins January 2 against UC Riverside.

UCSB allowed San Diego to shoot 53 percent from the field and over 40 percent from beyond the arc. The cold-shooting Gauchos went 3-for-13 from 3-point land and 6-for-13 from the free-throw line.

Jesse Byrd led the team in rebounding with six and James Nunnally came off the bench to score nine points in 24 minutes of playing time.
