Chloe Brooks had 12 saves in the cage, but Santa Barbara’s girls water polo team showed its inexperience in a 9-6 loss to Foothill Monday in a tune-up for the Newport Tournament, which begins Tuesday.
Two Dons players were kicked out of the game for innocent substitution errors, but the team also had some signs of strength, playing Foothill even after falling behind 4-1 in the first quarter.
Leah Gonzales had a pair of goals and Charlotte Hendrix had a goal, assist and four ejections drawn in the game.
“We did some good stuff, but the fact that we have no seniors and one junior kind of reared its ugly head today,” said coach Mark Walsh.
