Cortes scores early to lift DP over Camarillo

Eduardo Cortes scored off of a corner kick in the fourth minute and the Dos Pueblos boys soccer team held on from there in a 1-0 win over Camarillo on Friday.

“He was our best player by far today,” said assistant coach Tovi Eliasen. “He started in the back and won a lot of 50-50 balls for us. The first half was one of our best halves of the season.”

The Chargers had a wealth of opportunities in the first half, but Eliasen said that Camarillo played more physically in the second.

“Despite that we did well to not concede any goals,” he said.

The Chargers (3-4-1) host Hueneme on Tuesday.
