DP wins one before it starts

Emily Fox and Nicole Bullemer turned in rounds of 38 at par-35 Glen Annie Golf Course Monday to lead the Dos Pueblos girls golf team to a score of 212 and a victory that was decided before the match began.

With only four players and not enough time to find replacements, Oxnard was forced to forfeit. But at this point in the season, DP is finding it important to be introspective.

“We’ve tried to be focused on ourselves and what we can control all season,” said coach Rob Schiff, whose squad is now 14-1 overall and 7-0 in the Channel League.

Sami Hill and Anna Samson both shot 44, a nice mark especially for Hill, a water polo star who has only been hitting the links for two years. Her personal-best is actually a 40, which included a quadruple-bogey.

Next up for the Chargers is a showdown with Santa Barbara at Montecito Country Club on Thursday.
