Laguna lassoes Royals at Riverside tourney

The San Marcos boys water polo team didn’t get much of a chance to warm up at the Riverside Poly Tournament, opening up against Laguna Beach, the No. 4-ranked team in Division III.

After a 16-5 defeat on Thursday, the Royals must now stay warm for the four matches left this weekend against some of Southern California’s top programs.

Coach Jeff Ashton credited Laguna with being aggressive and effectively using the counter attack against the Royals.

Mac Gostow led San Marcos in scoring with two goals. Abel Hamilton, San Boysel and Ben Kilpatrick  each added one.
