Chargers rough up Oxnard

The Dos Pueblos girls tennis team notched another mark on its belt on Tuesday by trouncing visiting Oxnard 16-2 for its third straight win to start the season.

No. 1 singles player Erica Cano and the No. 1 doubles team of Amy Sagraves-Amy Logan have yet to drop a set this year for the Chargers (3-0). Sagraves-Logan went 3-0 and are 9-0 on the season.

In fact, it was a clean sweep for all Charger doubles teams on Tuesday. The No. 2 team of senior captain Melissa Dahl and Anna Slyutova went 2-0 and Oriane Matthys-Nicoletta Bradley went 3-0. Sofia Pasternack and Nicole Eskenazi didn’t give up any slack, winning their only set 6-0.

In singles, Cano and freshman Lauren Stratman both won two sets before giving way to Angie Dai and Hannah Zimmerman. No. 3 singles player Hayley Edwards went the distance, which included a 7-6 set win over Oxnard’s No. 1 singles player Moira Hedberg that went 8-6 in the tiebreaker.

The Chargers return to the hardcourt on Thursday against Thousand Oaks.
