ASA Western qualifier at Elings Park, Dos Pueblos

Girls fast-pitch softball teams from all over central California will converge on Elings Park this weekend to compete in the ASA Western Nationals qualifying tournament.Co-hosted by the Goleta Valley Girls Softball Association, the tournament will feature more than 50 teams in age groups 10-under, 12U and 14U. Top JC-transfer chooses UCSB softball

Jessica Soria, a transfer from Arizona Western College, will join the UCSB softball team for the 2012 season it was announced by head coach Brie Galicinao. The outfielder is a two-time National Junior College Athletic Association Division I First Team All-American.Soria, who hails from Simi Valley, led Arizona Western College in batting the past two seasons. Hannah Harris and Jordan Roberts, the one-two punch that led the Dos Pueblos softball team to a Channel League title and a CIF championship, were honored as the co-Most Valuable Players of the league.Roberts, a senior second baseman, provided clutch hitting and solid defense for the Chargers. Dos Pueblos last played in a CIF softball title game in 2005.The Chargers are one step away from getting back to the final.
