Balanced Bishop buries Santa Paula

When Bishop Diego banked in its second 3-point shot of the night, coach Jeff Burich felt it was going to be a good night for his girls basketball team.

The Cardinals got great scoring balance and rolled to a 54-25 Frontier League win Thursday night.

“Every game is almost like that. It was a good team game for us,” Burich said. “It was nice when we banked in two of our first three 3-point shots. I knew it was going to be a good night.”

Janelle Kohler paced the balanced attack with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Dalise Spence was a force on the boards with 12 rebounds.

Bishop Diego’s defensive pressure was overwhelming. Jennifer Jimenez and Kelsey Stimson and Courtney Houston combined for 17 of the team’s 26 steals.
