Max Montiel and Adan Alvaro posted pins for San Marcos, but the Royals were outmatched by Hueneme, 58-24, in a non-league wrestling dual meet on Thursday.
“Were are a young team that is getting better,” San Marcos coach Tony Becerra said. “We had a bit of a setback today but we know that we’re improving with every match. We had two first-year wrestlers in our varsity lineup today and they fought hard, but more importantly they inspired the rest of the team. We just need more of that and we’ll be fine.”
Montiel pinned his Hueneme opponent 31 seconds into the first period at 152 pounds. At 120 pounds, Alvaro put his opponent down 17 seconds into the second period.
