GSoc: Liberman does it all in Cate win

Emma Liberman split goalie duties in a 4-0 shutout for Cate on Wednesday and scored a goal in the same game.

Liberman made a couple of saves in the first half while playing goalie before becoming a midfielder in the second half and scoring the Rams’ final goal. Mari Espinosa preserved the shutout for Liberman and the Rams in the second half.

Julia Farner opened the scoring in the first half for Cate. Farner successfully bent a corner kick into the side netting. Not long after, Ellie Vogel drew a penalty kick that Isabela Montes de Oca knocked home. Montes de Oca scored her second goal of the game in the second half on a powerful shot that scraped the crossbar before hitting the net.

Sophomores Emily Burns and Sophie Johnson had break out games on defense, according to Rams head coach Lisa Holmes, and several young players made the most of their playing time.

Cate faces Laguna Blanca in its next game on Friday.
