San Marcos outscored Santa Maria in the second half on Thursday but the damage was already done as the Saints prevailed 47-40 in a Gold Coast Tournament game.
The Royals were led in scoring by Sierra Hearron and Megan Cunnison’s eight points. Juliet Dodson and Jackie Hernandez scored six points each and shared defensive duties on Santa Maria’s leading scorer Sarah Galicinao.
San Marcos (2-5) continues tournament play on Friday against Santa Ynez. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m. As tournament host, San Marcos is hosting the final eight games of the tournament on Saturday.
