Dos Pueblos and Channel Islands battled to a back-and-forth 3-3 tie on Wednesday in a non-league game.
The Chargers fell behind 1-0 but rallied to take a 2-1 lead by halftime. Then it was Channel Islands who scored two straight goals to take a 3-2 lead. A late penalty shot opportunity allowed Dos Pueblos to earn the draw.
Jessie Jiminez and Manny Nwosu were each credited with a goal and an assist. Nwosu assisted on a goal by sophomore Oscar Ferreira, who scored in his second straight match.
Despite giving up three goals, it was DP’s defense which received compliments from head coach Matt York. Calvin Schipper was called the player of the game and goalie Tave Grabenheinrich stopped multiple close-range shots by the Raiders.
Dos Pueblos (6-2-2) plays at Carpinteria on Friday. After starting the season unbeaten through seven matches, the Chargers will be seeking their first victory in four games.
