Rayshaun Moore was perfect from the free-throw line in crunch time on Tuesday to lead Carpinteria past Hueneme, 48-45, in the Warriors’ season opener.
Moore finished with 26 points in the game to lead Carpinteria and made 4-for-4 free throws in the final minutes to fend off a rally attempt from Hueneme. Moore returned to the court for the Warriors after missing his entire junior season with a broken leg. Jax Montgomery finished with nine points.
Warriors head coach Johnny Ward said his team surged ahead in the second quarter once the offense started to flow and the defense made more stops.
