Sophomore Cyrus Wallace sparked Dos Pueblos off the bench with 14 points in a 64-53 season-opening basketball win over San Luis Obispo on Monday night.
The Chargers overcame a slow start to take a two-point lead (24-22) at halftime. They picked up their defensive intensity in the second half and pulled away with a 22-9 third quarter.
“In the second half, we were able to create turnovers and get some good looks at the offensive end,” said DP coach Joe Zamora.
Anthony Trujillo chipped in 12 points for DP.
The Chargers play at Nipomo on Friday.
