Santa Barbara doubled up on Rio Mesa on Tuesday, 62-36, in a non-league game highlighted by a half-court shot by Ben Brown.
At the end of the first quarter Brown heaved the half-courter to beat the buzzer. It was one of three 3-pointers made by Brown in the game. Nick Busch’s 16 points were a team high. Ben Clay added 11 and Bolden Brace had 10.
“I think our defense made some real progress tonight and we saw glimpses of how good of a defensive team we can be,” said Dons assistant coach Joe Bregante.
The Dons play Bishop Diego in their next game on Friday at 8 p.m. in the first round of the Carpinteria Bashore Classic.
