WSoc: Westmont rolls into NAIA Round of 16

Westmont exploded for four goals in the first half and rolled to a 6-0 victory over Embry Riddle of Arizona in a first-round match of the NAIA Women’s Soccer Tournament on Saturday at Thorrington Field.

The victory advances the Warriors (16-3-2) to the Round of 16 at Orange Beach, Ala., on Nov. 30. Embry Riddle ends the year at 13-4-3.

Jackie Lopez had two goals and an assist and Kelsey Steck scored a pair of goals in a dominating performance. Westmont outshot Embry Riddle 25-4.

Alanna Richards got the Warriors going with a goal in the 15th minute off an assist from Angela Brown. Three minutes later, Steck made it 2-0, scoring her 21st goal of the season off an assist from Brooke Lillywhite. Lillywhite followed with her eighth goal of the year in the 31st minute.

Lopez finished her 10th goal from Steck in the 35th minute for a 4-0 lead.
