WBK: Oregon pulls away from UCSB in 2nd half

EUGENE, Ore. – UCSB was competitive in stretches during the opening half against Oregon, but the Ducks broke away in the second half in defending home court with a 79-51 decision on Sunday afternoon.

Jasmine Ware and Chaya Durr both hit season-highs against Oregon with 12 and 11 points, respectively, while Coco Miller netted 10 points for the second game in a row.

The Gaucho defense frustrated the Ducks throughout the game, as UCSB recorded a season-best 18 steals and forced Oregon into 27 turnovers. Santa Barbara was quick to turn its defense into offense, as the team recorded 25 points off the Ducks’ turnovers.

Ware particularly stood out with a five steals, while Taylor Farris, Coco Miller, and Makala Roper added three steals apiece.

Jillian Alleyne had game-highs of 15 points and 13 rebounds to lead Oregon (3-0).

The Gauchos (1-2) will be back in the Thunderdome on Tuesday to host the University of Texas, Rio Grande Valley at 7 p.m.
