Westmont suffered at 77-66 loss to the Fighting Saints of St. Francis (Ill.) (3-0) on Friday evening at the NAIA Desert Reign Hydrocephalus Invitational in Henderson, Nev.
Cory Blau led the Warriors (2-2) with 17 points while Sam Bentz added another 11.
“We didn’t shoot well from the free throw line – we were 13 for 23,” said Westmont head coach John Moore. “We came back and it looked like were going to be able to take the lead, but we had trouble making our free throws.
“St. Francis is a very good team who executed well. We couldn’t get defensive stops at crucial times. We also had 10 turnovers in the first half. We played well at times but we turned it over entirely too much.”
The Warriors continue invitational play when they take on Benedictine (Ariz.) tomorrow afternoon at four o’clock
