Ventura shot 52.4 percent on Friday night and drained 13-of-28 from 3-point country to defeat SBCC 92-60 in a men’s basketball semifinal at the Ventura We Play Hard Tournament.
Jacob Alonzo and Elijah Brown led the Pirates (2-0) with 14 points apiece. Ventura was 13-15 from the free-throw line.
The Vaqueros (1-1) fell behind 42-27 at intermission. Bryndon Wilson had 12 points and Tejon Williams added eight points and five rebounds for SBCC, which made only 38.5 percent of its field goals and 5-9 from the foul line. Martin Pederson also scored eight and hit 2-4 from 3-point range.
The Vaqueros will take on another WSC North rival, Moorpark, in the third-place game on Saturday at 5 p.m.
