HENDERSON, Nev.) Playing just north of his home state of Arizona, the Warriors’ Hayden Anderson helped #17 Westmont Men’s Basketball (3-2) gather a win in the desert.
“Hayden had a very nice game playing close to home,” said Westmont head coach John Moore. “He only had eight points but really played very well.”
The senior from Phoenix helped guide the Warriors to an 82-70 victory over Benedictine-Mesa (Ariz.) (2-5) on Saturday night in the 2015 Men’s NAIA Desert Region Hydrocephalus Invitational.
Four Warriors tallied double-figures including sophomore Sean Harman (13 points), sophomore David Gunn (12 points), junior Cory Blau (11 points) and sophomore Jerry Karczewski (10 points).
“We did a better job defensively, holding them to 38 percent from the field,” noted Moore about the team’s performance.
The coach was also pleased with the way the Warriors approached the offensive game. “The great stat of the night was that we had 22 assists on 26 baskets.”
The high number of assists correlates with the Princeton offense that Moore implements and his emphasis on both unselfish play and teamwork.
Westmont will take a couple of weeks off from competition and then return to action November 27 and 28 when they participate in the Bud Presley Classic at Menlo College in Atherton. The Warriors will take on Cal Maritime and Southern Oregon at the event.
