Cate completed an unbeaten Frontier League season on Tuesday by defeating Carpinteria 25-15, 15-17, 15-15.
The result gives the Rams, ranked No. 1 in Division 4A, a perfect 12-0 record in the Frontier League.
Cate setters Halie Straathof and Hannah Barr spread the ball around. Delaney Mayfield made them happy leading the team in kills with a hitting percentage of .300.
“(Straathof and Barr) continue to improve on spreading the offense around, they continue to work hard at every practice to improve their game,” said Cate head coach Greg Novak.
The Rams will need everything they can get as they begin their CIF title defense in Division 4A.
“Because we won last year and are first seed again this year, we have a lot of work to do, both mentally and physically,” Novak said. “We can’t assume anything, we need to be ready to play the first round.”
Playoff pairings will be released on Friday.
