Playing on the road didn’t faze the Laguna Blanca girls volleyball team. The Owls jump on host Grace Brethren in the first set and never let up in rolling to a 25-6, 25-16, 25-13 sweep in a CIF Division 4AA second-round match in Simi Valley.
“We had a solid game plan going in and jumped all over them in Game 1, Laguna coach Jason Donnelly said. “As they settled down, we stayed consistent and played at a high level the entire night. It was nice to go on the road and get a win in the playoffs.”
The Owls (20-7) will be home for Saturday’s quarterfinals, taking on Shadow Hills at 6 p.m.
Emily Lafitte played a solid match against Grace Brethren, posting 9 kills, 12 digs and 7 service aces. Caylin Zimmerman and Phoebe Madsen each had 7 kills.
“We continue to practice at a high level and the girls are having fun,” said Donnelly. “.We are looking forward to getting back in the gym to prepare for the quarters.’
