For the second straight year, Cate defeated Duarte in the CIF Division 4A girls volleyball playoffs.
Playing one of its best matches of the year, the top-seeded Rams swept the Falcons, 25-17, 25-22, 25-20, in a quarterfinal match at Cate’s gym. Cate topped Duarte in last year’s 4A championship match.
Cate (23-8) will play at Summit in Fontana in Tuesday’s semifinals. Summit, which lost to Cate in last year’s semifinals, outlasted Mammoth in five sets on Saturday.
