Crescenta Valley bested Carpinteria’s girls tennis team on Tuesday in a CIF Division-2 Wild-Card match 16-2.
Warriors head coach Charles Bryant thought his team came out a little flat against a better team. Not a good combination.
“I think it is one of those matches that if we played them again tomorrow we might not win but it would be extremely close,” Bryant said.
Madison Cleek picked up both points for the Warriors from the singles lineup. In a microcosm of the Warriors’ day, Cleek broke a string on her racquet in warmups and didn’t have a back-up so she had to use an assistant coach’s unfamiliar equipment.
“Even she had a hard time today,” Bryant said.
The Warriors finish their season with a 9-13 record.
