Erica Schroeder and Natalie McClure went 1-2 in the Division-2 race at the Mt. SAC Invitational on Saturday to lead San Marcos’ cross-country team to a 26-point first-place victory.
Lee Al-Atraqchi (7th) and Mya Adornetto (9th) gave the Royals four top-10 finishers. Kendra Dayton’s 13th place rounded out San Marcos’ scoring.
Schroeder won the race in 18 minutes and 21 seconds, ahead of McClure in 18:29.
Logan Briner was the fastest Royal in the boys varsity race. The senior had a career-best on the course with a time of 16:07, good for fourth overall.
San Marcos’ large contingent that traveled to Mt. SAC competed in six different races. Jason Peterson and Kaela Cleary each bested their contemporaries for individual titles in the sophomore field.
