SBCC’s Gustavo Bello finished 88th in the prestigious Mt. SAC Invitational men’s cross country race on Friday at the world-famous Mt. SAC course in Walnut.
Bello, a sophomore from Santa Barbara High, ran 23:37 on the 4-mile course that features rolling hills. Matt Wells was 133rd and Arnulfo Basave placed 139th. The Vaqueros’ top five runners didn’t compete in the 18-school competition.
Ulysses Orozco of Saddleback was the winner in 20:35.
Mt. SAC took the team competition with 37 points. Canyons was second at 57 and Hartnell took third with 83. The Vaqueros placed 18th.
“This was a good opportunity for these guys to get another race under their belts and get some valuable experience,” said coach Scott Fickerson.
SBCC will compete in the WSC Championships on Friday at Legg Lake in Whittier.
