Bonnie Henrickson has hired Nate Fripp as an assistant coach for the UCSB women’s basketball team, it was announced Tuesday.
Fripp will be joining UCSB after spending the past 10 years as the head girl’s basketball coach of St. Mary’s College High School (Berekely, Calif.). During his time with the Panthers, he compiled a 276-72 record, winning nearly 80 percent of his games.
He coached his teams to top-30 finishes in the state seven times, and he was named the 2010 ANG Newspapers East Bay Coach of the Year. Three of his teams finished with 30+ wins with his 2010 recording a 31-4 record. That same team was crowned NorCal Champions and finished second overall in California State’s Division IV.
Fripp’s Panther teams were six-time league champions, five-time North Coast Section Champions, and a two-time CIF State Champion runner-up.
In addition to his high school coaching, Fripp has also coached the East Bay Xplosion Basketball Club since 2004 as an assistant and head coach.
A 1996 graduate of St. Mary’s College HS, Fripp earned a four-year scholarship to play basketball at Brigham Young University – Hawaii (1996-2000).
