Special Olympics Santa Barbara will host its third Regional Soccer Tournament Girsh Park on Sunday, November 1st. Two local Santa Barbara teams will compete against teams from Ventura, San Luis Obispo and Santa Maria in an exciting day of competition.
This year’s competition features nine teams, three soccer fields and skills competitions in dribbling, kicking and passing.
The public is invited to cheer on our athletes and join the fun. “You too can be a fan of determination and catch the spirit of courage and joy that Special Olympics Athletes display as they compete,” says Tim Philibosian, Regional Sports Manager. The opening ceremonies will begin at 9am and the competition begins at 9:30 am. The closing ceremony and awards will be presented at 1:45 pm.

Special Olympics Santa Barbara serves over 500 children and adults with intellectual disabilities through year-round sports training and competition opportunities in twelve sports. The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, and experience joy.
